Semisweet is the alt-rock solo project of Cailey Norris. Originally from Garland, Texas, she started writing songs as a kid, and posted some country stuff on YouTube in high school. This led her to Nashville and Belmont University, where she studied songwriting and made 1 friend.
After college, she started putting out music under her own name — first an EP in 2020, then a full album in 2023 that she co-produced. Over time, the songs got heavier, the guitars got fuzzier, and a sound came into focus.
Now there’s Semisweet. The new EP is grungy, hooky, and vulnerable in a “sorry mom and dad” kind of way. Producer and collaborator Austin Luther got the vision from the beginning and helped shape the sound into what it is. It’s giving 90s grunge, but in the age of situationships. Enjoy.
